Jamie M. Brabston
Jamie is Senior Counsel to the firm. She advises employers on compliance and best practices in all areas of employment law, with emphasis on discrimination and harassment laws, benefit and leave issue, policies, procedures, affirmative action compliance, record keeping, wage and hour, ethics programs, contracts and compensation issues. Jamie takes a proactive approach to problem prevention and avoidance of lawsuits, and regularly assists clients with internal investigations of employee complaints and conducts a variety of manager and employee training. Jamie also has successfully defended cases for a variety of clients involving sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, disability, age, religion, race and sex discrimination, non-competition and trade secrets, FMLA, ERISA, invasion of privacy, negligent supervision, intentional infliction of emotional distress, fraud and breach of contract. Representative clients range from the defense industry to school boards and health care facilities, as well as small, start-up businesses.
Following more than a decade of private practice with a large Huntsville based law firm, Jamie served as General Counsel, Vice President of Human Resources, and Corporate Secretary for Digital Fusion, Inc., a Huntsville based government contracting firm, from 2006-2009. In 2009, Jamie founded her own employment law compliance business, Practical Employment Solutions, Inc., where she partnered directly with small businesses, including government contractors, to assist them with a full range of human resource and employment law compliance needs.
Jamie is committed to serving in volunteer agencies whose primary focus involves children. She is currently a member of the Kiwanis Club of Homewood-Mountain Brook and serves as the Alabama District Chair for the Kiwanis Key Leader Program and the GROWTH campaign. Jamie previously served on the Boards of the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Harris Home for Children, and was a member of the Junior League of Huntsville.
